Frequently Asked Questions

It is a series of empowerment events at selected locations. These events would hold in a conference format.

Participants will be learning from life coaches in their communities. These sessions will focus on teaching participants life skills that cuts across business development, physical and mental fitness, healing, and educational advancement.

Sessions will take a workshop and interactive approach, whereby participants can join breakout sessions, and ask questions after the main sessions have been delivered.

We carried out interviews with leaders in these communities and gathered that: members of their communities often face constraints when it comes to accessing to life coaching resources or events.

Many survivors of domestic violence experience economic limitations, and while they may see the need to transform their lives, by working with a life coach, many are unable to prioritize this kind of coaching. This is not a problem that is limited to the African space, it is a global concern. For instance,  during my work experience with survivors in the United States, specifically in Chicago, I noticed how the financial challenges of many survivor, exposed them to violence in their intimate relationships.

Many DV survivors live in fear and panic, and also are not able to travel outside of their communities, as abusers may suspect that they intend to escape. To this end, our goal through these community events is to bring those life-coaching experiences to these survivors and in their communities.

Before we designed this life-coaching framework, which will be used during these empowerment events, we discussed it with advocates and thought leaders in these communities. They all shared that in their communities, there are no empowerment events that offer the kinds of benefits that we are bringing to these participants.

In fact, one of our partners confirmed that past events organizers focus on events that teach participants skills such as (beads making), that are no longer at par with modern trends.

We plan to sustain the impact of these events, in two ways.

In partnership with the life coaches, who will be facilitating these events, we seek to continue to ignite hope in DV survivors by ensuring that they continue to have access to the coaches in their communities, while our company, ideyforyou, will ensure that they access the services of these coaches for free, and when they become empowered, through the life skills they will develop,  these beneficiaries can pay it forward for other domestic violence survivors in their own network.

As stated in the previous paragraph, DV survivors often fear speaking up due to safety concerns. However, we discovered that many survivors can use social media and internet to access information. Therefore, we plan to leverage technology. The life coaching sessions, will be recorded after these events, and it will be open access to domestic violence survivors across the African countries and other parts of the world.

We intend to make this into an African version of Mindvalley or Masterclass; which is accessible to marginalized groups.  Take a look at what Masterclass looks like here: MasterClass Online Classes.

In order words, we intend to create an indigenous and Afro-centric online education platform that caters to the life coaching needs of marginalized groups, especially those in African communities.

These hubs will run as virtual and in-person small communities or networks where these survivors can stay connected to resources and relate to the facilitators from the thriving past domestic violence conference. These hubs will also have short terms accomodations for survivors who need such accommodations, before transitioning to supporting themselves. In these hubs, survivors will access ultra-modern fitness centers, kitchen, and other facilities.
